Abstract :
This paper discusses the design and analysis of front-end circuits that perform the important tasks of signal amplification and frequency translation. The analysis provides a link between classical RF treatment of circuits that perform these functions and lumped models that are used by analog and small-signal circuit designers. Design metrics of these circuits, such as noise figure and intercept points are outlined. Important design issues such as stability, matching, noise and linearity are addressed
