Abstract :
According to the similarities between biological growth and product architecture evolution, the key procedures of biological growth are introduced into product design. The self-organizing design strategy and its implementation methods are proposed by applying the product genes obtainment technology, amplification technology and translation technology into product growth design. Complexity strategy and function tolerance theory are used as the key technologies for product genes amplification, in which quality assurance factors such as assembly factor, manufacturing factor and usage factor are considered in the design process to ensure general optimization of product structure. Mixed graphs is used to express conceptual product and isomorphism testing algorithm is used to realize the mapping from concept product to entity product, which decrease greatly the complexity of the integration of concept design with detail design. This biological design method contributes much to the realization of universal optimization of product structure, and finally leads to design automation.
