Abstract :
A novel method of complex ray expansion is used to model the electromagnetic (EM) scattering from hollow-pipe targets with large apertures, such as engine intakes. As an example, a curved hollow duct is analyzed. The effectiveness and accuracy of the method are verified by the investigation. It is concluded that complex ray expansion provides a useful and accurate tool for predicting the radar cross sections of complicated configurations that may be strong scattering sources.<>
