Abstract
This study examines the space-vector modulation of multilevel inverters. The focus of the paper is to unify the advantageous features of existing fast modulation algorithms and to simplify the switching state selection in order to minimize the number of the device switchings and the du/dt across the switching devices. The scheme is discussed from a five-level inverter viewpoint, but it is applicable irrespective of the number of voltage levels or topology used. The functionality of the modulation scheme is verified by means of computer simulations.
