Abstract
A new approach to designing fan filters for moving objects that is based on mapping from velocity sets to slowness sets is presented. All of the complexity in the application of fan filters to image sequences results from the velocity-slowness mapping not being one-to-one, so the filter response cannot be independently specified at all velocities. Despite this limitation, the fan filter promises to be a powerful tool in image sequence analysis. Both the power and the limitations of the fan filter in this new application are elucidated
