Abstract :
The paper simulates 3-dimensional car models with front window angles of 20°, 30° and 45°. The fluid-solid coupling method has used to investigate the influence of the flow effect on the car body. The free space outside the automobile is created with 3-times automobile length upstream and downstream, 2-times automobile height and width. The scale of automobile is 435 mm × 168 mm × 148 mm length × width × height. The comparison of total pressures between car nose and car tail and shear stresses along the car body are presented among three front window angles. Analyzing the result, it can be concluded as follows: The automobile with front window angle of 30° has the lowest resistance. The main resistance for moving a car is not friction but pressure differences between car nose and car tail.
