Abstract
In the course of an attempt to compile an as complete as possible list of relevant neural networks paradigms, a description and specification language for neural paradigms is being developed. As a first result, or spin off, a graphical description formalism is introduced. It appears that this formalism can not only be used for describing existing neural paradigms and concrete architectures but also as a practical neural network design tool. This description method allows the design of details as well as the development of the overall structure of a neural network architecture and the specification of the interdependencies of its elements in a uniform and structured way. By using some kind of standard elements and by introducing new ones whenever needed this approach can be used for constructing or describing various neural networks
