Data envelopment analysis (DEA for short) is a linear programming method to measure productivity. It is a non-parametric method, which does not require specific forms of the known production, and only need input-output data. Therefore, it is especially suitable to evaluate productivity for multi-input and multi-output characteristics of the similar decision-making unit. In the medical field, it applies not only to the horizontal efficiency of different hospitals, as well as different times of the same hospital, but also can be used to evaluate the efficiency of hospitals in different regions. So, it is widely used in the medical field. this paper analyze DEA of measuring production efficiency in the medical field over domestic and foreign and reviewed the advantages and disadvantages in applications briefly.
