Abstract :
The symmetric extension method for the implementation of size-limited filter banks is generalized to allow for M-channel nonuniform filter banks, where M⩾2. Also, the symmetry condition on the analysis-synthesis filters is relaxed. A closed-form solution is presented for calculating initial conditions for symmetric extension IIR (infinite impulse response) filter banks. Unlike a previous solution, the new IIR method may be directly extended to two-dimensional nonseparable filter banks
