Abstract
This article presents a novel design of voltage swells restorer using transformer and PWM AC chopper. The proposed dynamic voltage restorer uses an ac chopper converter to generate compensation voltage and adopts the transformer to isolate the power converter from the load. When input voltage swells occur, proper compensation voltage is obtained by changing the duty cycle of the PWM control signals. Therefore, the load voltage can be kept stable. The transformer is connected in series with the load. A prototype dynamic voltage regulator controller system with DsPIC30F4011 digital signal processor has been developed, its dynamic performance is investigated. The simulation and experiment results show that the proposed dynamic voltage swells restorer regulator can suppress the load voltage fluctuations effectively.
