Abstract :
In order to reduce the radiation in curved optical waveguides, the introduction of a step index of refraction profile in its upper face by means of diffusion (ion implantation) or by growth of a dielectric layer is discussed. Expressions are obtained for the propagation constants along the x and y directions of a rectangular dielectric waveguide with two layers, for the conversion coefficient, and for the attenuation coefficient.<>
