Security is a critical issue for the deployment of trustworthy and profitable IEEE 802.16e networks. This paper attempts to define architecture compatible with existing standards. It introduces security APIs dealing with the privacy sublayer, and demonstrates that this proposal is compatible with computing performances of today smart cards.
