Abstract
As the field of active safety vehicle technologies grows, vehicle-to-infrastructure communications will play an important part in distributing safety and other information to a larger area quickly. In this paper, the authors discuss preliminary considerations for roadside interaction with the vehicles in the context of a previously proposed local peer groups (LPG) architecture for ad hoc peer-to-peer networking of neighboring vehicles.
