Abstract :
Presents the mathematical derivation of a novel on-line modelling technique for an active periodic noise control (APNC) system using a internally generated impulse train with the same fundamental frequency as the noise to be canceled as reference input. The mathematical derivation of this on-line modelling technique is done based on the equivalent block diagram of the system with the use of the steepest descent concept. Simulations show a considerable improvement in the performance and stability of the APNC system with the novel on-line modelling algorithm over the APNC system without any compensation. They also show that the performance of the APNC system with the on-line modelling algorithm is close to the performance of the ideal system, therefore indicating that this technique is a promising one
