Abstract :
A description is given of CETUS, a layout leaf cell synthesizer. The Euler chain approach and a linear ordering method are used for Euler chain placement. A novel inner row placement approach was developed to enhance the quality of the transistor placement. A three-layer router is used for detail routing. CETUS has been tested exclusively using real industrial designs. The quality of the layout it generates compares favorably with hand-crafted designs.<>
