            Abstract : 
A simple method which detects whether or not television pictures have become impaired by intermodulation beats is presented. This method uses the intrinsic properties of a beat in the two-dimensional Fourier transform. Since it does not use thresholding, it is able to identify beats of very weak amplitudes
