Abstract :
In order to understand the complexity of the urban heat island, and then to establish an effective countermeasure against the urban heat island, the purpose of the study was set to examine the relationships between exhausted anthropogenic heat and surface temperature. Through the analysis using the multi-temporal airborne thermal images acquired in Tokyo, Japan, it was observed that exhausted anthropogenic heat influenced the surrounding surface temperatures directly and indirectly. It was also revealed that the influences in the increase of surface temperatures scored at most about 5 to 6 degrees in the nighttime, and the intensity and the duration of influences varied according to the energy consumption cycle in the building.
