Abstract
The mechanism of duty cycle generation in current mode (CM) and average current mode (ACM) pulse width modulated (PWM) converters was examined and found to be identical except for the functional relationship of the controlling parameters. This result is used to develop a SPICE-compatible and topology-independent generic current mode model. The proposed universal model can be applied without further mathematical derivation to explore the large- and small-signal performances of CM, ACM, and other realizations of current feedback in PWM converters
