Abstract :
Comparison of control of the rotor side converter of a utility-connected double-fed induction generator (DFIG) for wind power generation systems (WPGS) using conventional PI control and fuzzy control is investigated in this paper. There has been no clear and decent comparative study between two till now. This paper investigates a mathematically tuned PI controller and two fuzzy controllers: single fuzzy with and without the cascaded current controller. Whatever the control schemes, the real and reactive powers (PQ) at the stator side of DFIG are strictly controlled to supply the power to the grid. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified by the comparative study under the balanced grid voltage condition through PSIM simulations.
