Abstract
We present a proposal for using the agent oriented programming paradigm as a tool for modeling agents that represent a real manufacturing cell. The main motivation in using this programming paradigm is to give flexibility to manufacturing cells by exploiting the speech act theory (P.R. Cohen and C.R. Perrault, 1979).
