Abstract
The authors discuss practical issues arising in the implementation of various adaptive finite impulse response (FIR) filters using multiple processors. Some key issues involved in partitioning of adaptive filter algorithms for distribution to multiple processors are examined. Two architectures for the multiprocessing implementation of the fast Kalman and the FAEST FIR adaptive filters are presented. The use of the TMS324C40 programmable digital signal processor for the implementation of the multiprocessing architectures presented is investigated
