Abstract :
The operation of MIDAS is described. First, the simulation algorithm is discussed, and a first-order sigma-delta (ΣΔ) modulator is used as an example to describe the reordering and execution algorithms. The MIDAS input file, which specifies the configuration of the simulated system and the analyses to be performed, is introduced. The ΣΔ modulator example is used to illustrate how the block diagram of a system is converted into the input file format. The means by which new functional blocks can be added to MIDAS are presented. All functional blocks in MIDAS are defined in model files, which are compiled directly into the program. As an example, the model file for a summation block is shown. A brief description is given of the enhancements proposed for future versions of MIDAS
