Abstract :
Ultrasonic motors that use a piezoceramic annular plate vibrating in nonaxisymmetric modes are discussed. Analyses on nonaxisymmetric vibration modes of an annular plate are summarized from the viewpoint of its application to an ultrasonic motor. An attempt was made to construct the motors using the annular plate, and the characteristics of the motors were measured. Experimental results of motors utilizing degenerated mode rotation of (1,1), (2,1) and (3,1) modes are presented. For the stator vibrator of the motor, a piezoceramic vibrator or a bimorph-type vibrator is used. An ultrasonic motor consisting of a multimode annular plate using the nonaxisymmetric mode and radial mode is shown
