Abstract :
In inductively coupled power transfer (ICPT) applications where roadway based electric vehicles are required, flat pick-ups are often used due to their high tolerance to variations in physical displacement. However, the design of such systems can be complex due to the large number of geometric parameters and their substantive effect on system performance with respect to displacement. This paper presents a generic design methodology for such systems that allows the designer to quickly ascertain a first-order solution for the magnetic geometry that will meet the various system requirements
