Abstract :
The growing demand for the monitoring of patients, and the potential promise of cloud computing has allowed considering a number of cloud-based systems and services for health care. The cloud computing, in combination with the popularity of smart handheld devices has inspired healthcare professionals to remotely monitor patients´ health while the patient is at home. To this end, this paper proposes a cloud-assisted face recognition framework for health monitoring. In this framework, handheld devices or video cameras collect face images and delivered to the cloud server for possible analysis and classification. Experiments are performed to validate the proposed approach and to evaluate the suitability of the framework in terms of accuracy and time. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach compared to the face processing in local server.
