Abstract :
This paper proposes a new start criterion of the crowbar circuits based on doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). The working principle of supply-side and rotor-side converters and control strategy during a fault are investigated briefly. In the case of using the same fault control method, different criterions of starting crowbar have different effects on the performance of LVRT when a three phase fault occurs. Simulation results indicate that the start criterion of detecting feeder voltage in the wind farm makes a good performance of LVRT while choosing the optimum crowbar resistance and the appropriate fault control strategy.
