Abstract
The authors describe a CAD tool for transmission line modelling and advances made in its customising for lightning, EMC and microwave analysis. The software has been designed to run under the SUN Open Windows environment on SUN SPARCstations. The software is written in a mix of FORTRAN and C and can be divided into three layers; pre-processing, electromagnetic simulation and post-processing. The pre-processor´s task is to ease the input of geometrical data. The electromagnetic simulators include a 3D time-domain field solver and a line-simulator for modelling coupling of fields to multiconductor lines. The post-processing enables the modeller to Fourier transform the time domain output to reveal resonances or process the data in various other ways to reveal other characteristics of the structure being modelled and to visualise the simulation results
