Abstract :
This paper presents the methodology and the experimental results of the independent vector control of two three-phase induction motors (IMs) fed by a five-leg inverter (5LI) with space vector modulation (SVM). We can select freely the switching count by using SVM. SVM can also reduce the switching count. But normal SVM techniques to output voltages for motor in three-voltage source inverter (3-VSI) cannot be applied to the 5LI for independent driving because the circuit configuration of 5LI is unique. Therefore, the new SVM technique is needed. This paper shows the SVM technique for 5LI. The commands of the experiments are the adjustable speed drive and the normal speed drive. The experimental results are proved that 5LI with SVM can drive two IMs independently by vector control.
