Abstract :
To conserve energy reserves and reduce pollution, new energy taxes are intended to make consumers use less energy or pay more; they may choose to lower temperature settings or increase insulation. With the new UK privatised supply industries, users may also select a supplier who offers the lowest cost, to ensure the use of the best fuels in the most efficient manner. The author discusses the attitudes to energy conservation and environmental protection in the privatised industry.
