Abstract :
The author describes the modelling and analysis of ground-based tactical electronic intelligence (ELINT) systems, tasked with detecting and locating elements of a ground-based array of target radars. A representative tactical ELINT system consists of a baseline of two or more ground-based ESM sensors, having one or more broadband antennas and receivers. EAch sensor measures the bearing to a target radar, and reports that line of bearing to a control station which determines the emitter location by triangulation. The radars to be detected are described principally by their frequency and effective radiated power (ERP) in dBW: the detection process at the sensor is modelled simply by specifying a threshold incident power flux
