  • Abstract
Project Management can be split into two main categories: technical management-the physical integrity; and programme management-organisation, techniques, and tools. The project organisation needs to understand the techniques that can be used to control project work and the tools that are available to support those techniques. The techniques are: scope definition and structuring; time planning; budgetary planning; physical progress measurement; performance measurement; and trend analysis and forecasting. To use these techniques certain approaches must be taken and a number of philosophical tools employed in order to achieve suitable control criteria. The author gives a breakdown of these tools and how they should be used.<>
