Abstract :
The purpose of this paper is to outline briefly the work of the National Disability Information Project, and in more detail, the work of Gateshead Disability Information Project which is producing interactive multimedia information systems for deaf and disabled people. The major thrust of the NDIP projects is to improve disability information networks between national and local information providers, to cut out duplication of effort in collecting the producing disability information and to raise awareness about disability issues. Gateshead library is developing compact disc interactive (CD-I) as a medium for publishing information for disabled people which includes information in British Sign Language
