    This paper discusses the work and achievements of CAPS relating to access to documents for the print disabled using international standards. The Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) [ISO, 1986] and Open Document Architecture (ODA) [ISO, 1988] are discussed and ways in which the increasing use of these standards provides opportunities of improving access to information by the print disabled are described
