Abstract
For people with an intellectual impairment, training is an essential enabling force to support them in accessing technology based information and services. The ACT-IT project defines a methodology for analysing the access needs relating to an IT device in a particular context. The model of access needs defined by the project specifies an IT situation in terms of the tasks to be performed and the related concepts to be used. The ACT-IT project has developed a prototype authoring framework to support an author in the development of computer-based multimedia courses. The specific purpose of these courses will be to support people with learning difficulties in learning to use information technology in contexts relevant to their needs
