Abstract
The paper proposes a prototype of H.264-based remote network video surveillance system. H.264 is adopted as encoding/decoding technology which has the higher compression rate than other technologies such as MPEG serials and therefore decreases the requirements of network bandwidth in a great extent. The architecture of system and design of hardware are described and the QoS mechanisms of the system also are given. The running data show the system saves the network bandwidth effectively and input the smooth data flow into the network.
