This paper compares theoretical maximum throughput over ideal channels with saturation throughput over Ricean fading channels under the CSMA/CA (Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance)-based DCF (Distributed Coordination Function) protocol at the MAC layer in the 802.11a wireless LAN.
