Abstract :
The author demonstrated the generation of sub-20 fs pulses with energies exceeding 100 muJ, for the first time in his knowledge, in the deep ultraviolet spectral region. The pulses were characterized by a novel single-shot UV FROG device. The availability of pulses with the reported parameters opens up a range of new applications.
