Abstract :
Wind-diesel power systems have received serious consideration now for well over a decade. Despite this, successfull commercial systems are rare and the large commercial market anticipated has not so far materialised. This paper examines the reasons for this and provides an assessment of the state-of-the-art of the technology. A key role is seen for proven power system models for assessing both dynamic characteristics and overall performance and economics
