Abstract :
This work investigates a new group of optical materials, that are known as calcium and manganese rare-earth tetrametagermanates, Ln2M2+Ge4O12, Ln = Eu - Lu or Y, M2+ = Ca, Mn, and solid solutions ErxY2-xCaGe4O12, PrxY2-xCaGe4O12, PrxY2-xMnGe4O12, 0 les x les 2. These materials are synthesized and their crystal and optical properties are investigated. Finally, infrared vibrational and Raman-scattering measurements confirm the structural feature of the calcium and manganese rare-earth tetrametagermanates and indicate their isostructural relationship with A2M(VO3)4 (A=Na, Ag; M=Ca, Sr).
