Abstract :
There is an increasing need to solve larger and larger computational models, which is leading to users of computational electromagnetics having to invest in more expensive hardware, such as 64 bit systems. This paper looks at the implementation and benefits of an octree staggered meshing scheme, used in a TLM based package, which can dramatically reduce the number of cells which need to be solved for a model. This reduction in cell count leads to two major benefits for the user of CEM; firstly the memory requirements for a model are reduced and secondly, the simulation time is reduced. These, in turn, lead the user to be able to solve more complex models on standard PC platforms.
