Title :
Microwave exposure levels in the vicinity of cellular network tower

Abstract :
The increased demand of the mobile communications capacity in Malaysia has resulted in an increased construction and existence of cellular base station facilities in public neighborhoods over recent years. These facilities are generally perceived as being hazardous because of the electromagnetic radiation originating from them. This has led to public concerns regarding the safety and possible adverse health effects of human exposure to microwave energy emitted by these facilities. The paper presents some preliminary measurement results and analysis of microwave exposure levels near cellular base station facilities in Kota Samarahan and Kuching Divisions. The microwave exposure levels were indeed found to be in compliance with the standard maximum permissible exposure (MPE) limit.
