Abstract :
The paper presents an improved solution to the design of computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) systems. This is based on an innovative systems architecture to support a holistic approach, focused on meeting customer need. The real life complexity of the manufacturing enterprise is recognised and dealt with in a manner that is both simpler and at the same time more comprehensive than traditional methods.
