  • Abstract
In this paper, we address the topology control problem for wireless sensor network. WSN uses many-to-one communication model while ad hoc uses many-to-many communication model, this makes MST-based algorithms which are widely used for topology controlling in ad hoc not suitable for WSN topology control. We propose DSPT, a more power efficient topology control algorithm than traditional MST-based algorithms for WSN. A single destination shortest path tree rooted from sink node was build to minimize the power consumption. The memory footprint for DSPT is small, and its time complexity is O(V-1). It is more feasible for memory and power constrained WSN than MST. Simulation results show the total power consumption and single node power consumption are reduced by about 25% and 13% respectively than that of MST.
