Abstract :
This paper implements a Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) Contour based power amplifier previously proposed theoretically by the authors. The proposed PA, implemented using discrete components on an FR4 PCB, achieves a peak power of 25dBm and a peak drain efficiency of 65% at about 6dB back-off from the peak output power at 100MHz from a 3V supply. The ZVS Contour PA achieves high efficiency for a 10dB back-off in output power by a simultaneous load and duty cycle modulation of a parallel class E PA.
