            Abstract : 
We present the concept of a ballistic quantum device based on electron waveguides that can conceivably be used for high-speed, low-power, large bandwidth analog-to-digital conversion. We report low-temperature (⩽4.2 K) experimental results that validate the device concept and suggest guidelines for realizing devices capable of operation at a temperature of 77 K and higher
