Abstract
As part of a speed controlled AC drive, the induction motor must be developed in such a way to achieve: better dynamic behaviour; lower noise level; and reduction of size. The authors discuss the special properties of an inverter-proof motor. The authors also discuss supply of induction motors by modern inverters, measurements on an experimental drive, possible measures against overvoltages and durability of the windings against switching overvoltages
