Abstract :
The authors present the results obtained from an induction motor design and flux-vector, drive-simulation program used to investigate the consequences of special, low-inertia, induction-motor designs. The influences of skin effect and saturation of the machine are included in the drive model. The effect of slotting, saturation, skew and rotor shaft diameter changes needed to cope with unbalanced magnetic pull are included in the design program. Results are presented for the fully modelled drive system showing the improved response of the modified design
