Abstract :
With full implementation of the EMC Directive due at the end of 1995 there is considerable pressure on IEC and CENELEC technical committees to publish generic, basic and product standards relevant to all electromagnetic phenomena. In the case of harmonics it has been CIGRE Working Group 36-05 which has had the greatest impact on standards work. Whilst it has been relatively easy to establish LV and MV compatibility levels for harmonic distortion in public supply networks it has been difficult to obtain international agreement on the- establishment of the relationship between them and the emission limits of particular equipment. The standards and reports described by the author either influence or directly relate to the harmonic emissions of three phase industrial equipment
