Abstract :
Explores and identifies the issues involved in the application of ion thrusters (ITs) to the control of large flexible space structures. The performance and operational characteristics of ITs are outlined, including thrust throttling, startup response time and redundancy, and some aspects of application of ITs to control are discussed
