Abstract :
A high-frequency switching converter has been used to make smaller a high-voltage DC power supply consisting of a Cockcroft and Walton multistage rectifier circuit. Since the switching power supply furnishes a square-wave voltage, an inductance element is provided within the circuit to restrict inrush input current. The theory of operation of the circuit is described, and an analysis method suitable for circuits containing an inductance is developed. The steady-state characteristics are obtained by the method, and the predicted values and experimental results are compared.<>
